World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler trusted Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his utility (3) iron to come from behind and win the BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, on August 17.
The 29-year-old Texan shot rounds of 66-65-67-67 for a 15-under-par total of 265, claiming his fifth victory of the season. The win puts Scheffler in position to secure a second consecutive FedEx Cup title at this week’s TOUR Championship in Atlanta.
“Nippon Shaft congratulates the world’s No. 1 player on winning the BMW Championship and his fifth tournament of another incredible season,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We are proud that he relied on our N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his utility iron to continue his outstanding play. Nippon Shaft’s breakthrough hybrid technology in shaft design combines the best qualities of steel and graphite so that tour-level players and everyday golfers can get the best out of their games.”
Meanwhile, in Oregon, 23-year-old rookie Akie Iwai secured her first LPGA Tour victory at the Standard Portland Classic. The Japanese star, who already had five wins on the JLPGA, used Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO 950GH neo steel shafts in her irons and wedges to post rounds of 67-67-64-66 for a 24-under-par total. She won by four shots over Gurleen Kaur, with her twin sister Chisato Iwai finishing third.
“Nippon Shaft congratulates the winner of the Standard Portland Classic, who used N.S. PRO 950GH neo steel shafts in her irons and wedges,” Fukuda said. “We look forward to watching as her LPGA career continues to unfold and supplying equipment that helps her achieve her best.”
More than 300 players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and Korn Ferry Tour use Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series steel shafts to help gain their desired distance, accuracy, and trajectory.
