Royal & Awesome Sparks charity interest

The ‘Sparks Golf Challenge’, organised by the Sparks charity, challenges golf enthusiasts this summer to complete as many holes of golf as they can in a day, while raising funds for vital medical research. The Challenge is sponsored by Royal & Awesome, the Scottish golf apparel brand. Sparks is a children’s medical research charity that raises funds to help the one in thirty babies born in the UK with a condition that could affect them for life.

To participate players need to organise teams of two to four playing a minimum of 72 holes on a given day this summer, with Royal & Awesome rewarding teams who raise a minimum £400 for the charity with a free pair of trousers for each team member. Players should also play a minimum of four rounds on one or more courses.

Three teams will be invited to play in the popular Sparks Open at The Oxfordshire on 8 October based on teams playing the most holes in a day, raising the most money, and recording the best Stableford score over 72 holes.  To qualify the Challenge has to be completed by 1 September with registration on the charity’s website.

Since 1991, Sparks has raised more than £26m through fundraising initiatives to fund vital research and this new partnership will see Royal & Awesome support the charity’s golf and events throughout 2014, aiming to raise valuable funds for life-saving medical research.

Royal & Awesome brand director Graeme Smeaton said, “Royal & Awesome is always keen to support golfers who are raising money for charity – and this is the perfect opportunity to reward those who are going to be taking part in this gruelling challenge. We’ve been asked to help raise funds in the past, by people who say our eye-catching clothing helps them to get more money. A partnership with Sparks is a great way to add scale to this.”
