Robert Karlsson becomes abacus brand ambassador

Former European Number One Robert Karlsson jpoins abacaus Sportswear as its latest brand ambassador.

Here the super-Swede highlights five reasons why he’s counting on abacus in 2015.

1. Swedish style

Founded in Sweden, abacus has established an international reputation for its functional, smart clothing for active golfers, featuring cool Scandinavian style. It is this Swedish heritage and the company’s unique approach to the sport, encapsulated in the brand’s motto ‘Freedom of Golf’ that appealed to Robert Karlsson. He says: “I really like the fact that abacus is a Swedish company, which not only makes me feel proud, but also helps me to feel right at home, both on and off the course.”

2. European Tour quality 

Abacus Sportswear is the Official Apparel Supplier to The European Tour and dresses staff, officials and volunteers at European Tour tournaments. Karlsson has enjoyed a long and successful career on The European Tour and in 2008 became the first Swede to win the Money List. “It is great to work alongside a brand that has a long-standing association with The European Tour and really understands the specific clothing requirements of a professional golfer.”

3. Ryder Cup pedigree 

As an Official Licensee to The 2014 Ryder Cup, Abacus Sportswear produced an exclusive collection for one of the greatest sport events of all time. The line included Ryder Cup branded versions of its popular Nipton rain jackets, Glade wind jackets and Score fleeces. For Karlsson, the association with the game’s greatest team event is an important stamp of quality: “I have been fortunate to represent Europe in The Ryder Cup on two occasions, so it is important for me to have signed with a brand that also enjoys a Ryder Cup pedigree.”

4. Shared passion for golf 

Abacus Sportswear founder and owner, Sven-Olof Karlsson developed the company to make apparel that combines design, quality and function and gives active golfers the freedom to play well.  It is Sven-Olof and his team’s shared passion for the game that convinced Robert to commit to abacus.
