QHotels supports National Golf Month

QHotels is embracing National Golf Month (NGM), which launched on April 27, with events taking place at across its golf venues in England and Scotland.

NGM is an initiative driven by the British Golf Industry Association (BGIA), with the full support of the whole of the golf industry. It is designed to drive more participation in the sport: to encourage youngsters and families to take up golf and also to welcome back people who’ve played previously but may have stopped.

The initiative fits perfectly with QHotels’ golf ethos. Indeed, the company’s highly successful QFairway flexible golf membership was designed to appeal to former golfers looking to rekindle their passion for the sport. And the 2014/15 AA Hotel Group of the Year has already partnered with England Golf to offer free golf to children enjoying a stay-and-play break during the school holidays.

On Sunday, May 15, nine QHotels’ golf properties will be offering a variety of events including free coaching; free fitting; crazy golf; and skills’ challenges – including chipping, putting and the popular ‘break glass’ feature on the driving range (provided by Bluehawk Events); with refreshments, barbecues, and some fabulous golfing prizes to be won, including free golf vouchers, spa treatments, overnight stays, memberships, and golfing apparel.

John Angus, group director of golf for QHotels, explained: “As the UK’s largest golf resort operator, we are ideally placed to be able to help drive National Golf Month and, in doing so, increase participation in the sport.

“We hope that the events we are hosting across our venues will see hundreds of youngsters and families engaged with golf in a way they may not have enjoyed previously – and also that we might encourage adults back into the sport. Golf can be played from a very young age to old age and is an excellent way to keep fit, which is a real concern among parents these days.”

QHotels features a host of prestigious venues in its portfolio including Slaley Hall, Belton Woods and Mottram Hall. The multi-award-winning four-star golf group offers tournament and championship-standard courses in ten unique resort locations across England and Scotland.
