J.T. Poston claimed the biggest victory of his PGA Tour career after winning the Memorial Tournament in a playoff, with the American enjoying immediate success following a recent switch to a new Titleist golf ball and driver combination.
Poston closed on 12-under-par at Muirfield Village before defeating fellow Titleist player Ryan Gerard in extra holes, securing his fourth PGA Tour title and continuing a remarkable run of success for Titleist equipment across the professional game.
The victory came in just Poston’s second start using the new Titleist Pro V1x Left Dash golf ball, a model he moved into play following testing after the PGA Championship. Looking for a lower-spinning option to improve performance in windy conditions, Poston trialled both Pro V1 and Pro V1x Left Dash before making the switch ahead of the Charles Schwab Challenge.
The change appears to have paid immediate dividends. Poston ranked second in the field for Strokes Gained: Approach at Memorial, gaining more than eight shots on the field with his iron play. He also produced one of the tournament’s defining moments on the 72nd hole, hitting a T100 8-iron approach to just over seven feet before holing the birdie putt that forced a playoff.
His victory also marked another high-profile success for the new Titleist GTS driver range. Poston used a GTS3 9.0 driver throughout the week, helping him set up the decisive birdie opportunity in regulation with a 314-yard drive down the final fairway.
The Memorial win continues a strong start for the new GTS family on tour. Since its introduction earlier this season, more than 65 PGA Tour players have put a GTS2, GTS3 or GTS4 model into play, with the brand continuing to strengthen its position as the most-played driver on the PGA Tour.
For retailers, Poston’s victory provides further visibility for both the Pro V1x Left Dash and the new GTS metalwoods at a time when consumer interest in tour-proven products remains high. The win also highlighted the continued strength of the wider Titleist franchise, with Poston using a blended set of T-Series irons and four Vokey Design wedges as part of his winning set-up.
Elsewhere, Titleist players also enjoyed success across the global tours. Eugenio Chacarra won the DP World Tour’s KLM Open with a Pro V1 golf ball and GTS2 driver, while Tyrrell Hatton claimed victory at LIV Golf Andalucía using a Pro V1x. On the Asian Tour, Charlie Lindh secured his maiden title with a bag featuring a GTS2 driver, T-Series irons and new Vokey SM11 wedges.
The results continue a strong run of momentum for Titleist, with Poston’s Memorial triumph extending the brand’s recent winning streak across professional golf.
