Paul Williams appointed as General Manager of Toptracer Europe

Paul Williams has been appointed as General Manager of Toptracer Europe following his outstanding performance as Director of Golf for Topgolf UK.

Williams boasts a wealth of experience in the golf industry and takes up his new role after 13 years of employment with global sports entertainment leader, Topgolf.

Owned by Topgolf, Toptracer is best known for the ball-tracking graphics used during televised golf tournaments such as The Open Championship and Ryder Cup, among others – revolutionising how golf is watched on TV.

Commenting on his new role, Williams said: “I’ve enjoyed a fantastic 13 years working within Topgolf and I’m excited about taking on this new challenge. Toptracer has already transformed the way that we watch golf, and I am looking forward to growing the brand even further throughout Europe through our Troptracer Range product.”

Williams’ journey within the golf industry began in 2000 when he joined The Belfry to begin his PGA qualification, working there for three years, during which time the club hosted a Ryder Cup and two European Tour events.

In 2003, he moved to Little Aston Golf Club and qualified as a PGA pro, before joining Topgolf two years later to further his coaching development with Cranfield Golf Academy.

In 2012, Williams took on the role of Director of Golf for Topgolf UK. He was tasked with developing the coaching academy within Topgolf, enhancing the golfing experience of all guests and ensuring that a clear pathway of golf development was introduced through a team of professionals.

During his time in the role, Williams also signed a partnership with England Golf to align efforts on growing the game and worked with technology partners such as V1 Golf analysis software and BodiTrak Sports. Within the first year he grew revenues by 267% through adding this latest coaching technology to all three Topgolf UK venues.

Other highlights included creating the world’s first PGA-run pro-am on a driving range, as well as supporting 18 professionals through their PGA qualification.
