OCEAN TEE offer a plastic free New Year’s resolution

OCEAN TEE, the golf industry’s only provider of sustainable tee solutions, is calling on golf clubs across the UK to come together to get plastic off the course, reduce waste and slash their carbon footprint with its innovative OCEAN TEE Crowd initiative.

The OCEAN TEE Crowd initiative aims to use the buying power of 25 clubs across the UK to make a sustainable statement by transitioning to bamboo golf tees for members and guests. This unique 8 week initiative pools club resources to dramatically reduce the price of the brand’s premium, durable and sustainable tees, while providing an exceptional user experience and contributing to charities focused on tackling plastic pollution.

Ed Sandison, founder of OCEAN TEE explains the thinking behind the Crowd Initiative, “We’ve had a fantastic response to our biodegradable bamboo tees since we entered the market. There is a real appetite for sustainability, and as you can see from the recent ban of plastic tees at several courses, getting plastic out of the club eco-system is a great first step. Having said that, making the switch should be a commercially viable decision too, and with our new Crowd Initiative clubs can make a bold environmental statement and take advantage of a fantastic commercial offer.”

From 6th January to 2nd March 2020 OCEAN TEE will recruit a minimum of 25 clubs to be part of the initiative. If 25 clubs sign up within the limited 8 week period, then OCEAN TEE has committed to providing one of two complete tee solutions to participants at a dramatically reduced cost. This enables clubs to remove plastic tees and wooden tees packaged in plastic from the course, benefit from set delivery and split payment dates and upgrade the quality of their tee offer. And with 25% of all OCEAN TEE profit going to charity, signing up to be one of the first clubs in this innovative environmental offer will make double the positive impact.

The two offers, both priced at £850 plus VAT are:

Complementary Tees:  100,000 70mm (standard long length) bamboo tees delivered loose in 10 hessian sacks. The OCEAN TEE tees would be offered as complimentary gifts to members/guests. This quantity of tees will allow the club to completely remove plastic tees (as well as wooden tees packaged in plastic) from their course for a year.

Retail Solution: You receive 560 x OCEAN TEE bamboo matchbox units, each containing 40 tees.  These unique Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified matchboxes offer a functional alternative to plastic packaging.  A combination of tee lengths will be available, therefore allowing the club to remove plastic tees and packaging from Pro Shop shelves.  The matchboxes come ready to sell in Shelf Ready Packaging units.  Based on an RRP of £3.99 this offers a margin of over 50% to the Club Pro.

With the OCEAN TEE crowd initiative recruiting from 6th January 2020, the U.K’s golf clubs have a real chance to make a statement of intent for the decade to come, as Sandison concludes, “OCEAN TEE has sustainability at its heart and we’re committed to helping clubs all over the U.K. implement the small changes that can make a real difference. And it’s not just about plastic. We want to show what can be done by reducing waste, recycling products, centralising production and innovating with delivery. With the new decade upon us the golf industry has so many opportunities to improve its sustainability credentials and with initiatives like the OCEAN TEE Crowd we’re delighted to be taking some of the first steps towards that change.”

Any club interested in becoming part of the Ocean Crowd should email info@oceanteegolf.com to reserve their spot.  All that is required to confirm your place in the Crowd is a fully refundable £50 deposit.
