Mizuno JPX919 Forged claims second ‘Most Wanted’ award of 2019 for JPX919 family

Mizuno, the Japanese equipment manufacturer long renowned for its beautiful, industry-leading forged irons and technically advanced golf clubs is delighted to announce that top equipment testing website MyGolfSpy.com has declared the JPX919 Forged its ‘Most Wanted’ players’ distance irons of 2019 just weeks after the JPX919 Hot Metal claimed the same honours in the game improvement iron category.

Founded in Osaka, Japan in 1906, Mizuno has long held an enviable industry- and tour-wide reputation for crafting the finest irons on the market. This latest award for the JPX919 Forged follows hot on the heels of similar honours for the JPX919 Hot Metal model in the game improvement iron category and builds on a growing reputation for Mizuno’s JPX iron series. The JPX919 Tour was played to win May’s 2019 PGA Championship, thus completing back-to-back victories at both the PGA Championship and US Open for JPX Tour irons.

“We initially coined the term ‘Balanced Performance’ for the JPX Forged iron,” said Chris Voshall of the Mizuno Corporation. “It does everything so well across the set, without pushing one trait so high that it compromises too much on any other one aspect. It’s nice to see a test that acknowledges that rather than focusing purely on the yardage of one iron within the set.”

MyGolfSpy claims its tests are the world’s most comprehensive, with 14 of the top players’ distance models pitted against each other and over 8,000 shots hit by 20 testers with long, mid and short irons in each test set. The JPX919 Forged delivered exceptional ball speed and carry consistency, rating highly for ‘Radial Distance’, ‘Yards from Centre’ and ‘Shot Area’ across all three clubs tested. Both the mid and short irons led or co-led the strokes gained percentages across the testing group, and the testers rated the JPX919 Forged highly for looks, feel and alignment.

The streamlined JPX919 Forged is Grain Flow Forged HD (High Density) from a single billet of 1025B mild carbon steel in Hiroshima Japan for unmistakable Mizuno feel, with just a trace of Boron infused into the billet to make it 30% stronger and allow greater design possibilities in a forged head. It features a new reverse-milled clubface, which is CNC-milled from the sole up to create a larger area of minimum face thickness, making it Mizuno’s fastest ever forged iron in terms of measured ball speed. The resulting weight removed from the face also allows a lower, deeper centre of gravity making it easier to flight the long and mid-irons. Mizuno’s trademark workability and elevated Grain Flow Forged HD feedback ensure that the JPX919 Forged is also Mizuno’s most versatile iron.

The heads feature a durable Pearl Brush finish and a stability frame, which is open at the heel portion to enhance stability, launch and loft-appropriate flight apex for soft-landing approaches. The overall package is one of “balanced performance” with the JPX919 Forged offering the ultimate blend of ball speed, stability and feedback within a more refined playing profile.

Mizuno has become recognised the world over as a clear leader in irons and these recent test-winning performances by the JPX919 Series only serve to enhance that reputation yet further. #ReachBeyond
