Minty made a PGA Fellow Professional

Andrew Minty has chalked up another accolade after being made a PGA Fellow Professional. The director of golf at Langland Bay in Swansea, who was GCMA Golf Club Manager of the Year in 2015, was among the recipients in the latest APAL (Accreditation for Professional Achievement and Learning) awards.

Also earning Fellow status are leading coach James Morrow from Chartham Park in Sussex and Rick Valentine, the director of coaching at Loretto School in Musselburgh and Scottish Ladies Coach.

Valentine has also become one of the first PGA pros to complete the Level 4 Certificate in Coaching Golf through the PGA and UKCC at the University of Birmingham.

Minty said he was inspired to pursue his PGA Fellow status on the back of winning the Club Manager of the Year award. “I’m a proud PGA Member and want to better myself and continue my career and do as much as I can,” he said.

“My next goal is to try and get PGA Advanced Fellow status. I’m doing a lot with the Welsh Union and the Golf Club Managers’ Association and am doing a lot at Langland Bay. I’m really enjoying it, every day is different and I’m looking to do as much as I can.”

Also gaining PGA Advanced Professional status in the APAL awards are David Baron (Angkor Golf Resort), Marc-Pierre Campos (Swiss Golf Association), Peter Hammond (Shanklin Golf Club), Graham Mackay (Loretto School) and Xavier Medas (Castle Dargan).

The APAL awards recognise the efforts made by PGA Members to enhance their careers through on-going learning and development. There are four categories, rising from PGA Advanced Professional through to PGA Fellow Professional, PGA Advanced Fellow Professional and PGA Master Professional.
