MacGregor Golf has expanded its metalwood offering with the launch of the new Mac Mini Driver, designed to give golfers greater accuracy from the tee without sacrificing significant distance.
With mini drivers becoming an increasingly prominent equipment category, MacGregor is positioning the new model as an alternative to the traditional 460cc driver and a versatile option that can also be used from the fairway.
The Mac Mini Driver features a premium titanium head with a more compact profile and shorter shaft length than a conventional driver. MacGregor says the combination is designed to encourage more consistent centre-face strikes and tighter dispersion.
An adjustable hosel allows golfers and custom fitters to alter loft and ball flight, while a deep centre of gravity has been incorporated to produce a stable, mid-launch and mid-spin trajectory.
“The mini driver has become one of the most talked-about clubs in golf because it’s solving a problem that millions of golfers face,” said Gavin Wallin, Club Designer at MacGregor Golf. “Most players don’t lose shots because they can’t hit the ball farther, they lose them because they miss too many fairways. The club is aimed particularly at golfers who struggle with dispersion from a conventional driver, while its compact profile should also appeal to better players looking for another option on tighter driving holes.
Its ability to be played from both the tee and fairway also gives golfers an alternative at the top end of the bag, particularly for links golf and courses where positioning from the tee can be more important than outright distance.
The Mac Mini Driver is supplied with a premium graphite shaft and matching headcover. MacGregor is also making the head available separately, giving retailers, club builders and custom fitters greater flexibility when creating bespoke builds.
