London Golf Club gets Gold Award

The London Golf Club, host venue of the European Tour’s Volvo World Match Play Championship 2014, has become the first standalone golf venue to receive a Gold Award by Investors in People. The club is located near Brands Hatch in Kent and has two Jack Nicklaus signature designed golf courses, The Heritage and The International.

Investors in People provides accreditation for business improvement through people management. With only seven percent of all organisations achieving the prestigious Gold Award, the London Golf Club also joins an elite group of just three ‘Sport Activity’ sector businesses to have achieved the highest standard of the nationally recognised benchmark.

An assessment of London Golf Club, including 27 face-to-face interviews with staff, was undertaken by Alexandra Taskin, Investors in People specialist, who, after finalising her report, said: “I have been involved in assessing more than 600 organisations and London Golf Club ranks among the best I’ve seen. Corporate Social Responsibility was an area in which the club rated particularly highly because of its excellent links with its local community, plus its engagement in learning and development programmes.

“Although many aspects of the company’s strategy are integral to the nature of a business with a responsibility for the upkeep of a beautiful site, it’s evident the business and its people go well beyond essential requirements in acting as a valuable contributor to the communities of which London Golf Club is a part.”
