La Manga hosts senior amateur events

La Manga Club in Spain stages the Spanish International Seniors Amateur Individual and Pairs Championship from 5 to 9 February with 120 players taking part in each competition. Competitors drawn from 19 countries include John Ambridge, who won the individual 54-hole strokeplay tournament competition at his first attempt in 2012. John plays off a plus-one handicap held at Moor Park Golf Club.

The 72-hole pairs event features 36 holes of strokeplay betterball on the first day and two rounds with a greensomes format on the second. The competition will be held on La Manga Club’s South Course which has previously hosted the Spanish Open five times and qualifying schools for both the European Tour and Ladies’ European Tour.
