Johnson wins WGC Champions Tournament

Sitting on a three-shot lead after the third round, TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour staff professional Dustin Johnson continued his stellar play on Sunday, posting a 69-63-66-66-264 total to win the WGC-HSBC Champions at Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, China. The win marks the eighth career PGA TOUR win for Johnson, who played the new SLDR Driver, the Lethal golf ball and wore adidas Golf Tour 360 ATV footwear en route to a 3-shot victory over a field with the world’s highest ranked players.

One of the longest hitters on the PGA TOUR, Johnson used the new SLDR Driver lofted up to 10.5° to attack the shorter par-4s and 5s on a course set up for low scoring (Dustin’s old loft: 9.0°). SLDR, TaylorMade’s longest driver ever, features a lower and more forward centre of gravity that promotes a hotter launch, low spin and faster ball speed.

More than 25% of the field carried the SLDR driver during the tournament, again making it the #1 Driver on Tour, with 20 in play. Additionally, five of the top 10 finishing players used the SLDR driver.
With the win, Johnson moves from 145th to 3rd in the 2014 FedEx Cup standings.
