Just under a month since he captured his maiden PGA TOUR title at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, Ryan Fox has done it again with a second victory at the RBC Canadian Open, following a dramatic 4-hole playoff in Toronto.
Starting the final round in a share of the lead, the 38-year-old New Zealander produced a final round four-under-par 66, including a clutch birdie on the 72nd hole to force his way into a 2-man playoff at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.
After pars for both players at the first three playoff holes, it was Fox who prevailed when they returned to the par 5 18th hole for the fourth time. A stunning second shot from 259 yards, to just 7 feet with his ZXi 3-wood, which he later described as the shot of his life, proved enough to break his opponent and lock in the winning birdie.
The win also secures Fox a place in this week’s U.S. Open and moves him into the top 60 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
