Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa in Sicily has introduced a selection of golf breaks which include golf on its two championship courses. From 1 March a four-night break with two rounds of golf costs €540 per person (about £450) and also includes daily breakfast, two three-course dinners, two light lunches and four entry vouchers to the spa and wellness centre, as well as two tokens to the resort’s golf practice facilities.
Alternatively, a seven-night package with five rounds of golf is available for €987.50 per person (about £823), including breakfast, three dinners, three lunches, five visits to the practice area and seven entries to the spa. Prices are based on two people sharing a twin or double standard room and include a 10 per cent service charge. Meals do not include drinks.
Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa has 202 rooms, an award-winning spa and health club, swimming pools and three restaurants offering a broad selection of cuisine. It was the venue for the 2011 Sicilian Open, won by Raphael Jacquelin. The resort is the first course in Italy to be invited to join IMG Prestige, an exclusive collection of some of the world’s most celebrated golfing venues. Other highlights include both its courses being named in Golf World’s biennial list of the ‘Top 200 Courses in Continental Europe’.
The resort is 20 minutes away from Comiso airport and set in the area of Donnafugata castle. For non-golf days there are a number of nearby historical sites including Val di Noto, the heart of Sicilian baroque: Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Noto and Scicli – all with UNESCO World Heritage status.
