Carden Park completes bunker upgrade

The De Vere Carden Park has completed a £100,000 bunker refurbishment programme across its two championship golf courses. A 16 strong team, comprised of both the resorts’ greenkeepers and a team of professional bunker renovators, completed the works whilst managing to keep the courses open for golfers to enjoy. Having begun the project in November, the staff worked tirelessly through the wettest winter on record since 1910 to sculpt each bunker individually and ensure that the courses were in peak condition for the upcoming season. In total, approximately 8000 square metres of turf was re-laid during the project, 2000 metres of new drains were installed and 1000 tons of new sand was used.

The investment into the golf courses marks the start of a continuous redevelopment project that is being undertaken across the whole resort, with the 196 bedrooms and bar areas being completely refurbished. Hamish Ferguson, general manager stated, “This major bunker project has further improved the standard of our golf courses and ensures they match up to their stunning course layouts, to mean that we can boast one of the finest golfing experiences in the Cheshire area. All work being completed is to enhance the guest experience when choosing to visit or stay at Carden Park.”
