Callaway victory for Pieters in Prague

Big-hitting Belgian Callaway Staffer, Thomas Pieters, fired himself back into the European Tour winner’s circle for the fourth time at the D+D Czech Masters, the same venue where he secured his maiden Tour win in 2015.

Leading going into the final day at Albatross Golf Resort near Prague, the 27-year-old put in a confident performance from tee to green, adding to rounds of 67, 67, 66 to card an impressive final round 69 in windy conditions, that included five birdies.

Topping the driving distance stat for the week, Thomas averaged 318.3 yards from the tee, and was second in greens in regulation (83.3).

To cap off a fine tournament for #TeamCallaway, defending champion Andrea Pavan took a share of third place while the in-form South African Erik van Rooyen finished in a tie for fifth.

Odyssey continued its dominance of 2019 European Tour events, with an incredible 45% of the Tour Professionals competing in the Czech Masters putting an Odyssey Putter in play, including Thomas, who continues to play his Lucky 777 model.

After his victory, a delighted Thomas commented: “I’m really happy I got it done. I felt like I was in control today, almost the whole day, and I kind of did my own thing.”

Neil Howie, Managing Director and President of Callaway Golf EMEA, added: “Thomas is back where he belongs, winning! He is a supreme talent and we are proud to see him picking up another important European title, at a venue he seems to love.
