Cabrera hits it long to win with Ping

Angel Cabrera won the Greenbrier Classic at The Old White TPC, West Virginia with a final round of 64 for a 16 under total of 264. It was Cabrera’s first week playing with the recently launched Ping G30 driver and 3-wood. In the final round he averaged 331.6 yards and hit two drives on the sixteenth and seventeenth that measured 329 yards and 337 yards. He was also tied fourth in driving accuracy.

Cabrera commented, “This was a great opportunity, I wanted it. I needed to win a tournament. I felt under control today out there, and I didn’t want to let it get away from me. The big thing was the drive today. It was good all week long. It made the course play a little shorter for myself, but it was definitely my driver.”

Following the event George McNeill, Chris Stroud, Cameron Tringale and Billy Hurley III qualified for The Open Championship. McNeill finished on 14-under-par, two shots behind the winner Angel Cabrera. Stroud, Tringale and Hurley III finished on nine-under-par in a tie for fourth.
