It’s reported that Belmont golf course located alongside the River Wye near Hereford, has failed to find a buyer following its closure on 1 March. The course has not been maintained since it closed and would now require significant work to bring back to playing standard. The parkland course had a front nine with views to the Black Mountains in Wales and a back nine running alongside the River Wye.
The course and associated Belmont Lodge hotel were operated by Golf Inns and suffered financially with a series of poor summers followed by the disastrous weather experienced last winter in the west-country. A statement on the course’s website says, “The closure comes as a result of many years of difficult trading. Despite significant investment and effort we have been unable to turn the business around and whilst this has been a difficult decision the current situation is unsustainable.”
