American Golf goes for Longest Drive

On May bank holiday American Golf will start a nationwide search for the country’s ‘Longest Drivers’. Between 23 May and 25 May, every store across the UK will be challenging competitors of all ages and golfing backgrounds to win a place at the 2016 Remax World Long Drive Championship in America. The American Golf Longest Drive competition in association with Garmin is the latest in a series of initiatives aimed at improving the game by encouraging participation.

There will be one winner per store, who will receive a Garmin vivoactive prize. The regional category winners will win a Garmin watch from the Approach Series as well as an invitation to the Grand Final this autumn. There the 15 finalists will battle it out to be crowned Long Drive Champion and win an all expenses trip, courtesy of American Golf and Garmin, to take part in a 2016 Remax World Long Drive qualifying event in America.

Daniel Gathercole, head of marketing at American Golf said, “We are looking for people from all sorts of backgrounds to come and take part in our first ever Longest Drive competition. This is the first of our season of events aimed at getting more people, playing more golf. All abilities have a chance of winning with a fantastic prize at the end. With a bit of luck we’ll unearth a star of the future and they might not even be a golfer!”
