Wilson Staff gain market share with DX2 and DX3

According to the latest independent figures for golf ball sales (Golf Datatech Golf Ball Sales – January – June 2013), Wilson Staff has become the fastest-growing ball brand in the UK over the past year.

Record unit sales – both on and off-course – of the newly-designed Wilson Staff Dx2 and Dx3 Soft 2-piecegolf balls have helped the brand nearly double its market share gain in comparison to the first half of last year.

“The Dx2 Soft in particular has been a revelation this year as the softest Compression ball on the market,” said Doug Wright, Commercial Director for Wilson Golf in Europe. “The promotional support we gave the ball at the beginning of the year, coupled with the Drop Test that demonstrates its distance capabilities through the bounce achieved, has put real momentum behind our golf ball retail sales.”

The new 2-piece Dx2 Soft was completely re-constructed this year to provide ultimate soft feel around the greens, higher and consistent ball flights and three yards extra in distance.  At 40 Compression, ithas a considerably lower Compression than its nearest rivals and 10 points less than the original ball that became one of the most popular played by regular golfers over the last five years.

“Year on year, the Wilson Staff Dx2 Soft consistently comes out towards the top on gross margin in my ball category,” said Foremost member Martin Brown from Delamere Forest Golf Club in Cheshire. “Not only is it one of the best two-piece balls I’ve ever hit, but it’s at the right price point for the consumer to play with and for me to sell and put profit into the business.”

The Dx2 and Dx3 Soft have respective RRPs of £17.99 and £19.99 per dozen. More details about Wilson Staff golf balls can be viewed at: www.wilsonstaff.com.
