2018 Callaway’s Kings of Distance hailed as ‘best to date’

Ryder Cup star Thomas Pieters, seven-time European Tour winner Alvaro Quiros and four-time European Tour winner David Horsey joined almost 100 golfers at Stockport Golf Club last week for a special golf event.

Kings Of Distance, hosted by leading golf equipment company Callaway in association with top golf magazine bunkered, brought amateur golfers from around the country to the club on Tuesday for a whole day of fun activities.

A total of 96 amateur golfers were recruited by bunkered for the event, where they were given the opportunity to live like a tour pro for the day.

As well as getting the chance to try the very latest Callaway golf equipment, they were also treated to lessons and clinics from Pieters, Quiros and Horsey, as well as two-time World Long Drive champion Joe Miller and the reigning Women’s World Long Drive title-holder, Sandra Carlborg.

The lucky 96 also got to take a tour of the official Callaway Tour Truck and challenge the tour professionals in a ‘Beat the Pro’ nearest-the-pin competition.

However, the main purpose of the day was to help golfers make significant distance improvements, which they most certainly did, gaining a combined 1,432.5 yards.

Kings Of Distance is now in its fifth year but, according to Callaway marketing director Nick McInally, this year was the best yet.

“It was a superb day and a brilliant experience for everyone involved. We say that Kings Of Distance gets better with every staging and this year the feedback has been that we’ve delivered one of the best Kings of Distance events ever.”

bunkered editor Bryce Ritchie added: “Kings of Distance is truly something out of the ordinary. It’s a money-can’t-buy golf experience like no other, with access to world-class tour players, the world’s best new equipment, one-on-one lessons and the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the European Tour’s finest players.

“On top of that, the people who attended were given rare access to intimate clinics from two world championship-winning Long Drive stars. It really was the best Kings Of Distance to date and we’re thrilled to have been part of it.”

Stockport Golf Club’s PGA professional Gary Norcott echoed those sentiments.

“Everything went unbelievably well,” he said. “We were so excited to partner with Callaway and bunkered for the event and it’s exceeded all our expectations. The 96 golfers who attended had the time of their lives.”
