YUMAX Golf’s fresh new look

Editor Dan Owen caught up with the team at YUMAX Golf to find out about their recent rebranding, and the rapid growth of their Bushnell and Skechers shoe business.

With their recent rebranding from YUMAX Brand to YUMAX Golf and the launch of their exciting new website, the sales, distribution, and multimedia marketing agency have signalled their intent to continue the rapid expansion of their business.

YUMAX Golf is the master agent for Skechers GoGolf shoes in the UK & Ireland and as well as being the distributor for Bushnell golf products in the UK & Ireland, Germany/Austria, France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. The growth of the Skechers business has been phenomenal while Bushnell dominates the laser rangefinder market worldwide, continuing to be the #1 choice of Tour pro’s and elite golfers everywhere.

“We just wanted to make it more obvious who we are to the golf trade” explained YUMAX Golf Director Roger Wolfe following the name change. “We want to be known for looking after high-quality international brands in the golf sector. We can provide a full one-stop shop, offering them all the skill sets of sales, marketing, and distribution that brands need to succeed in the European marketplace. Our new website www.yumaxgolf,com really highlights that focus”.

As well as launching their new website YUMAX Golf has made some key additions to the team. Joining Roger Wolfe and Managing Director, Andrew Grose at YUMAX Golf is Craig Bousfield who will be heading up PR and Marketing for the company. Bousfield is an industry veteran and has worked on brands including Glenmuir, Sunderland, Golf Buddy, and Golfstream over the years, and adds a wealth of experience to an already solid team.

Another addition to the team has been Sam Strange. Sam has taken the position of European Sales Manager for Bushnell and he brings a wealth of experience in the segment, having headed up sales for TomTom in the golf sector before joining Roger and the team. Previous positions include being part of the sales team with TaylorMade.

YUMAX Golf has also added a new sale agent to the team – Joe Mannion – who will be looking after the Northeast including Yorkshire, Tyne & Wear, Durham, and Cleveland. Alongside that YUMAX Golf has sales agents in each of their European territories and have also added new customer service offices in both Germany and France.

YUMAX Golf is focusing on the in-store retailer and have introduced new in-store POS for both Skechers and Bushnell. Roger explained, “We want to help the retailers who support the brand, and with Skechers you will see a lot of new shop in shop setups.” Bushnell is also getting new in-store POS. “We’ve got fantastic new display cabinets that are currently being rolled out to our stockists and they really highlight the strength of the Bite Magnetic system seen in the new Pro XE laser and Phantom GPS products. It’s a lot of investment, but we want our brands to look the very best they can in store and the new display cabinets are a great way to really show off the products. These aren’t niche brands we’re dealing with, we want them to be available in all good golf shops.”

As well as a redesigned website, YUMAX Golf is adding a new online B2B portal. “Retailers will be able to order stock directly see where they are with their accounts and invoicing and generally have more control over their account” explained Roger. “It’ll simplify the process for our retail partners, and really speed up the re-ordering process.”

Sales for the first part of the season have been incredibly good, with Skechers doing particularly well in stores with a selection of styles – Elite and MOJO shoes have sold in particularly well. And Bushnell’s top of the range PRO XE laser has exceeded sales expectations. “The PRO XE is the clearest laser range finder on the market. With it’s 7X magnification it’s much clearer than any other unit on the market” Sales Manager, Sam Strange explained. “It’s our most expensive, top of the range model, and it’s not only selling-in well, but it’s also selling through well. At £450 that’s fantastic news for the retailer.”
