Ping Apparel launch AW19 collection

We caught up with Ping Apparel Global Creative Director Fiona Reilly about
what they have got in store for the AW19 range.

What is the inspiration behind AW19?

The focus for our apparel remains consistent through each of our collections – to help golfers look and play their best by combining premium performance fabrics with the attention to detail that has become synonymous with the PING brand.

Our autumn/winter collection takes inspiration from our brand’s heritage and founder, Karsten Solheim, and his design principles. We believe form follows function and that design should derive directly from its purpose.

We are always looking at new ways of providing performance and playability in our apparel ranges and our latest collection underlines that commitment.

Have you introduced any new technologies into the AW19 range?

Yes, as part of our Sensor platform technology, and within the Sensorwarm category, we’ve expanded our partnership with leading performance insulation brand, PrimaLoft.

The Norse PrimaLoft Vest utilises the latest in performance insulation and space-age technology by fusing PrimaLoft fabric with silica aerogel that results in levels of warmth and comfort protection never achieved before with a synthetic insulation.

Aerogel has long been used by NASA in aeronautical applications due to its ultra-lightweight and insulative properties – qualities we look for ourselves when researching and developing performance golf apparel.

Within our Sensor Dry technology platform, we’ve introduced the new Sensor Dry 2.5 waterproof suit that provides ultimate waterproof and windproof protection from all the elements; it is air permeable and lightweight, engineered using stretch fabric to ensure true breathability in all conditions.

What are the key pieces in the collection?

In the men’s collection, we’ve enhanced our Norse PrimaLoft Series for the season. Alongside the Norse Vest, we have the Norse PrimaLoft Jacket II and Norse PrimaLoft Zoned Jacket II which both feature PrimaLoft Silver Active Insulation to regulate comfort levels while offering performance without compromise.

The Sensor Dry 2.5 Jacket has been developed with PING tour staff to be extremely lightweight and quiet for minimal noise distraction on course, while at the same time layering perfectly with the new Norse PrimaLoft® Vest for ultimate warmth and water protection without bulk or restriction.

The new Breaker jacket and vest feature an insulated quilted front panel with a brushed back stretch fleece at the back body, offering both warmth and water-resistant properties.

In the AW19 ladies’ range, the Oslo PrimaLoft Vest III utilises PrimaLoft Gold Insulation with Cross Core, while PrimaLoft Silver Active Insulation is a key component in the new Oslo PrimaLoft Jacket II.

The Star quilted hybrid jacket includes an insulated quilted front panel to provide superior warmth, along with a brushed back stretch fleece at the back body and sleeves.

A real statement piece in the ladies’ collection is the eye-catching print found in the half-zip Nova top, which provides an explosion of stars and metallic trims for a bold trans-seasonal look.

    Mens

    Norse PrimaLoft Vest

The Norse PrimaLoft Vest pushes the limits of lightweight warmth by utilising the latest in performance insulation technology. PrimaLoft Gold Insulation with CrossCore Technology is a revolutionary fusion of PrimaLoft microfibres with aerogel that delivers previously unattainable levels of warmth.

Acclaimed for its ultra-lightweight and insulative properties, aerogel was originally developed  by NASA for use in aeronautical applications. It is composed of more than 95% air and is the lightest solid material known to man, forming a temperature barrier that delivers a higher warmth-to-weight ratio than any garment PING has ever engineered.

The vest also offers a water-resistant finish and reversible functionality featuring a chevron quilted black fabric to the outer and, when reversed, offers the golfer a clean snorkel blue colourway for visual impact on the course. Pack-into-pocket functionality ensures convenience and minimal storage in the golf bag.

    Sensor Dry 2.5

The Sensor Dry 2.5 jacket and waterproof pant is the brand’s most advanced waterproof suit to date. The Sensor Dry 2.5 suit provides the ultimate waterproof and windproof protection from all the elements.

With a five-year warranty included, the Sensor Dry 2.5 jacket is fully seam-sealed throughout and offers advanced levels of waterproof protection (20,000mm) and breathability (20,000gm/24h). A lightweight, windproof and stretch fabric ensures freedom of movement and no distractions during the round, whatever the weather.

A moulded two-way centre front zipper delivers increased protection and durability, while low-profile cuffs and hem provide adjustability. Two seam-sealed laser cut pockets complete the offering.

Norse Prima Loft Zoned Jacket II

A hybrid jacket engineered for core warmth and wind protection, ensuring the golfer stays warm and comfortable on the course and throughout the changing seasons. Zoned PrimaLoft® Silver Active Insulation to the front and back combines with a lightweight, stretch outer fabric to ensure core warmth and complete freedom of movement throughout the swing. High levels of breathability and a water-resistant finish make this the ultimate hybrid golf jacket. GR
