FootJoy unleash the all new ARC SL

FootJoy have launched a new golf shoe the ARC SL. While FootJoy launching a new shoe isn’t necessarily an unusual occurrence, they’ve targeted a different demographic with this new model. We spoke with FootJoy UK Marketing Manager Paul O’Hagen to find out what the key features and benefits are for this all new shoe model.

“The new FootJoy ARC SL has been created to offer golfers a leather, spikeless shoe option, with a primary focus on comfort. The shoe perfectly suits the more casual golfer who trusts FootJoy and its position as the #1 Shoe in Golf, but is looking for something that they can wear both on and off the course.

“Recent years have seen a demographic of golfers emerge who see comfort as their most important feature. The ARC SL caters to these golfers, offering them a breathable leather FJ shoe with a one-year waterproof guarantee and understated looks. The waterproof guarantee is a particularly pertinent feature, given the unpredictability of the British weather!

“With comfort being the shoe’s biggest talking point, created thanks to the cushioned midsole and SofCollar design, it’s imperative that golfers are given the opportunity to try the shoe on within the pro-shop to experience the cushioning for themselves. This also provides the retailer a fantastic chance to discuss and showcase the FJ Sock Range with golfers and explain the benefits of a performance golf sock over high street options.

“For those looking for the ultimate in performance spikeless golf shoes, the Pro/SL continues to lead the market, both on Tour and in stores but we’ve already had a tremendous response from retailers about ARC SL and we’re exciting for golfers to experience the comfort for themselves in April. ”

Named for the Active Response Cushioning found within the midsole of the shoe, ARC SL is designed to give the golfer maximum levels of comfort. The DuraTrax TPU performance spikeless outsole offers versatility for golfers looking to wear an outstanding shoe both on the course, and at the range.

The comfort within ARC SL comes from a variety of updated design features, building on FJ’s experience as the #1 Shoe in Golf and market-leaders in the development of spikeless golf footwear. As well as the Active Response Cushioned midsole, the shoe also boasts leather uppers with a one-year waterproof guarantee. In addition to this, it is soft, breathable and durable. A new SofCollar hugs the foot, supporting the ankle and helping to secure the golfer throughout the swing.

Building on years of producing performance-led spikeless golf shoes, the ARC SL’s new outsole has a generous fit in and around the forefoot area is designed to provide relaxed comfort round after round. It has been created specifically for this product, helping golfers to play their best on the course, whilst allowing those looking to wear the shoe both before and after the round to do so, thanks to it’s modern, clean styling.

The shoe is a first for FootJoy, offering a comfort-first leather option at £100. Sell in to the pros has been high, they have been receptive to bringing in this style of golf shoe from FootJoy. It’s easier for them to deal with one brand and cover all bases than it is bringing in a competitor’s product. It’ll also appeal to a more traditional FootJoy buyer too, with it’s simple clean styling.

“We can’t wait for golfers to experience the ARC SL. We’re confident that many will never have experienced cushioning like this before, certainly not in a golf shoe, and the advancements we’ve learned from developing marketing-leading spikeless footwear have been packed into this model. There has been such a veracious appetite for versatility within golf footwear and we’re confident that the all-new design of the ARC SL will be well received by golfers looking for a modern-looking, leather, spikeless option for 2018.” GR
