Veteran joins American Golf

American Golf has announced its first employment placement with the On Course Foundation (OCF) since announcing its partnership with the Services golf charity. Rick Webb, who was injured whilst serving in Afghanistan, joined the team at the American Golf Basingstoke store last month on a part-time basis. He first became involved in the OCF after hearing about a visit by founder John Simpson to Headley Court, the armed forces’ dedicated rehabilitation centre.

The On Course Foundation supports the recovery of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans through the medium of golf. As well as training and teaching golf skills, OCF strives to create work experience and employment opportunities within the golf industry and has been working alongside American Golf to identify opportunities across its 105 stores in the UK and Ireland.

Speaking about his placement Rick said, “Over the last year, the OCF has helped me and my family no end. This placement with American Golf is just the latest example of the important work that the OCF does to support its members and give Servicemen like me the opportunity to try different careers.”
