Thorbjørn Olesen is suited for comfort in the Nike Lunar Command 2

Nike athlete Thorbjørn Olesen’s schedule for 2017 is intense to say the least. He plans to play around 26 tournaments across the world, and hopefully all four Majors. This could amount to 720 miles walked this year, the equivalent of 27 marathons, so he needs his footwear to be instantly comfortable to compete at his best.

“The European Tour is truly a global one now, and the travel can be hectic – if things go well on a tournament week, and I’m in the mix or winning on Sunday afternoon, it’s normally a dash to the airport to get to the next tournament on the schedule. There’s no time to be testing new equipment or breaking in new shoes,” says the Dane.

When Olesen tees it up this week at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, he will be doing so in the new Nike Lunar Command 2 footwear, designed to give golfers superior levels of comfort. He won’t be the only Nike athlete relying on them – new Swoosh signings Alexander Noren, Thomas Pieters and Alex Levy – along with Ross Fisher and new European Tour graduate Dylan Frittelli – will also be in Lunar Command 2 in 2017.

“I really do feel that comfort levels in golf footwear is an underrated factor. If my feet aren’t comfortable, it can affect how well I compete, it’s as simple as that. These do everything any golfer could ever want from a shoe. They’re out-of-the-box-comfortable, waterproof and locked-down to the ground, which definitely gives me confidence on every shot,” Olesen added.

The Lunar Command 2 – which is now available for both men and women – has been designed to offer maximum levels of comfort and stability through Nike Flywire technology and a Lunarlon foam midsole. The golf athletes benefit from a lightweight cushioning and a secure fit for golfers of all abilities and swing speeds. A midfoot shank made from technical TPU enhances ground feel and stability on a variety of surfaces, while the thin, articulated tongue also aids comfort.
