TGI Golf names new chairman

TGI Golf Partnership has named Paul McEvoy as its new chairman. The Clitheroe-based pro was confirmed chairman of the retail services group owned by PGA professionals, at the company’s AGM held in Harrogate during The Golf Show.

McEvoy, aged 41, joined TGI Golf in 2001 and takes over from Cawder’s Gordon Stewart, who during his three-year spell oversaw substantial growth within the group in terms of partners and profits, which are shared equally among its 450-plus partners across the UK and Ireland.

During the company’s AGM it was also announced that Lurgan PGA professional and former PGA board member Peter Hanna would be joining the board of directors, replacing another ex-chairman Ian Muir, who has stepped down. Hanna’s appointment reflects the high numbers of Irish PGA professionals now within TGI Golf.

New chairman McEvoy said, “I’m incredibly excited to be taking over from Gordon during such exciting times for TGI Golf. Over the last few years our industry has changed and as a group TGI Golf has assisted PGA professionals to adapt, and excel, through those changes. I have learnt a lot from Gordon over his time as chairman and hope that he, along with the exceptionally strong board of directors, will support me throughout my time.” Further details at:www.tgigolf.com
