Suffolk Golf Club’s £10k pledge to children’s hospice appeal

Thorpeness Hotel and Golf Club, Suffolk, has pledged to raise £10,000 to help fund a new purpose built children’s hospice in East Anglia.

The golf resort and hotel has signed up to support EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices) nook appeal through a local business network scheme.

EACH is aiming to raise £10 million to transform children’s palliative care across the county, which includes ‘the nook,’ a new hospice built on a five-acre woodland site in Framingham Earl, south of Norwich.

Brad McLean, general manager at Thorpeness Hotel and Golf Club, said: ‘“As a Suffolk-based business, we understand why the work done through East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices is so important for affected families, and for the whole community. We are proud to support EACH and the nook appeal.”

Thorpeness Golf Club and Hotel has been supporting EACH over the past year and raised £2.6k for the charity through a range of events, sponsorships and by donating auction prizes. Brad McLean is also a trustee of EACH and volunteers his free time and expertise to help the charity succeed.

“We have taken our fundraising efforts to the next level in 2017. Thorpeness is holding a charity golf day in June, a music festival called Thorpefest in July and a Gatsby-themed ball, with gala dinner and live entertainment in October. We hope that each of these events is a major success and raises vital funds for the appeal,” added Brad.
