SkyCaddie’s new DMD is a fast Touch

The Touch is the next-generation GPS rangefinder from SkyCaddie, using technology which the company claims makes the pre-loaded course maps on all other GPS devices obsolete. The main competitive advantage enjoyed by SkyCaddie Touch is the ability to link via Bluetooth to the free SkyGolf 360 app on a mobile phone, to instantly download the very latest golf course maps to the Touch before each game.

Product highlights also include a feature-set giving golfers the ability to use SkyCaddie’s exclusive golf course information database for course management, including up to 40 target points per hole. With hundreds of exclusive TrueGround targets per course, the Touch contains a large amount of golf course data, all produced by SkyCaddie’s ground-mapping process. The company creates and regularly corrects each golf course map on foot using professional GPS surveying equipment, and each year updates over 300 golf course maps in the UK alone. SkyCaddie says that only it maps golf courses this extensively.

Pre-loaded with SkyCaddie’s 35,000 exclusive error-corrected global golf course maps, including 99 percent coverage of UK golf courses, the Touch offers glove-friendly touch-sensitive navigation with a high-resolution, sunlight-readable, glare-resistant colour HD display. The Touch also features SkyCaddie’s new on-demand vivid HD graphics, inspired by tour yardage books, giving visual detail for each hole.

In-play features such as dynamic RangeVue and interactive HoleVue with precision zoom enable golfers to closely examine yardages throughout the hole, and to set their own target points including quick layups. When Touch users are shooting for the green, SkyCaddie’s patented IntelliGreen technology gives them comprehensive, dynamic green information from their angle of attack. With SkyCaddie mappers having walked the circumference of every green, SkyCaddie claims users have accurate data about their all-important approach shot.

SkyCaddie Touch users pay an additional annual membership fee, to access a variety of tour feature plans providing updates for golf course maps on a UK-wide or global basis. Other features include hands-free automation including rotating auto-view; digital scorecard and stat tracking; the ability to store up to 20 rounds of data between syncs; shot distance measurement and pace-of-play timer.

The SkyCaddie Touch has an RRP of £329.95. In a UK launch promotion, every SkyCaddie Touch is bundled with a dozen Bridgestone B330-RX golf balls worth £47.99.
