RAF golf teams get a lift with Galvin Green gear

Galvin Green has sponsored the Royal Air Force golf team to help retain their two Inter-Services Golf Championship titles later this year. The Men’s and Ladies teams fought off competition from the Army and the Royal Navy to win both titles in 2013; the men defending their title from the year before. Now they are planning to repeat the double victory for the RAF at Saunton Golf Club in September.

As part of their preparations, the 18 men and 12 lady golfers who make up this season’s RAF teams have each been kitted out with the latest Aron and Abby Galvin Green Gore-Tex Paclite waterproof jackets in Midnight Blue. The accomplished teams, each holding a handicap of three or below, are selected from personnel across a wide spectrum of RAF employment sectors.

Many members of the teams practice regularly at Lincolnshire’s Woodhall Spa course, in close proximity to a number of Royal Air Force Stations, including RAF Coningsby where RAF Typhoon aircraft are based and are on constant alert to protect UK airspace.

Squadron Leader Jason Parr, captain of the Men’s team and a physical training instructor, said, “Wearing high quality waterproof garments not only guarantees that our players will be the best prepared for any conditions and able to sustain their level of performance, but also sends a very powerful subliminal message to our opponents that we are professional in our golfing outlook.”

Ladies’ team captain, Chief Technician Michelle Burgess added, “Wearing outstanding golf clothing means not having to worry about getting cold and wet during competitive matches and it allows you to concentrate firmly on your game.”
