Nippon Shaft shoots to success in SA Open

The winner of the South African Open used Nippon Shaft’s steel shafts in his Ping irons to win his first European Tour title when he beat Charl Schwartzel in a play-off to claim the South African Open at the Glendower Golf Club in Johannesburg.

The first-time European tour winner used Nippon Shaft’s NS Pro Modus3 Tour 120 steel shafts in his irons and wedges, as well as the NS Pro Putter shaft to earn €158,500 for his maiden victory. He overcame a seven-shot deficit during the final round, shooting five-under par 67, and finished at eleven-under par 277 in regulation play.

Nippon Shaft recently announced that 70 players on the US and European PGA Tours used various models of Nippon Shaft’s steel shafts in their irons and wedges during the 2013-14 season, an increase of 69.5 percent over the previous year.

Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft said, ““Nippon Shaft is very proud that this week’s European Tour champion won the South African Open utilising our products. The more that tour players around the world see the real difference a quality shaft makes to their on-course performance the more they favour Nippon Shaft.” More at: www.nipponshaft.com
