Nippon Shaft designed for wedges

Nippon Shaft introduced a new steel shaft designed specifically for wedges at the PGA Merchandise Show. Over 40 US PGA and European tour pros are already using one of three versions of the new steel short-game shaft: the NS Pro Modus3 Wedge 105; NS Pro Modus3 Wedge 115; or NS Pro Modus3 Wedge 125. The numbers refer to the number of grams in each shaft.

Using a new and patented MHT (multi-heat treatment) technology, Nippon Shaft says it has been able to design a shaft that improves ‘feel’ around the greens and to create a shaft characterised by a low trajectory, less variable spin and excellent directional stability. The new Modus3 Wedge series is an evolution of the NS Pro WV, a wedge-specific steel shaft Nippon developed primarily for touring pros in 2010. In the 2013-14 season 41 US and European touring pros used Nippon Shaft NS Pro WV shafts.

Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for the company stated, “Over the last few years, Nippon Shaft has worked closely with touring professionals in the US and Europe to develop a wedge shaft that fits their specific needs as well as the needs of low-handicap amateurs. What emerged was the Modus3 Wedge series, which we will proudly introduce at this year’s PGA Merchandise Show.”
