Nike have announced that they will stop selling golf clubs, balls and bags after years of falling sales at its golf division but said that they will ‘accelerate innovation’ in golf footwear and clothes.
“We’re committed to being the undisputed leader in golf footwear and apparel,” Nike Brand president Trevor Edwards said in a statement. “We will achieve this by investing in performance innovation for athletes and delivering sustainable profitable growth for Nike Golf.”
The news means that players such as Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and, of course, Tiger Woods, will have to find new hardware.
Earlier on this year Adidas announced that they were looking to sell off the equipment side of their golf business.
