Mizuno introduces JPX Platinum ball from Japan to European market

Mizuno is introducing its premium model, the 5-piece JPX Platinum from Japan to the European market. The luxury-feel, soft-core premium model, engineered to deliver 5-piece high performance to amateur players will be available at retail across Europe from July 2016.

The soft feel of the JPX Platinum is the result of a five-piece construction that incorporates revolutionary Cross Core – which converts more energy to ball speed, without the harder feel of a distance ball. The distant gain is enhanced by a dimple-cluster design, a collaboration between Mizuno’s golf ball R&D team and the Fukuoka Institute of Technology, that enables the ball to maintain it flight during descent.

“A traditional tour ball plays much shorter for the average player as they don’t generate the energy required to fully activate the core,” explains Alex Thorne, Tour & Product Manager, Mizuno Golf EMEA. “The JPX Platinum represents a new generation of balls that deliver the feel and responsiveness of a tour ball – but with a high energy core that’s optimized to their swing speed.”

The goal with the JPX Platinum, which combines Mizuno’s complete portfolio of ball technologies in one five-piece design, was to generate extra driving distance for golfers with swing speeds of up to 90mph by delaying the ball’s descent and keeping it in the air longer, but without sacrificing feel. That incredibly soft feel comes from the JPX Platinum’s Energy Cross Core, which encases the Centre Core.

The Centre Core, Cross Core and Outer Core are all made from soft butadiene rubber, with the Centre Core boasting high-COR properties. This optimises flight characteristics on full shots, while working with the two covers to deliver the luxuriously soft feel golfers seek on and around the greens.

The Inner Cover is made from a high-COR soft ionomer compound, while the Outer Cover is made from a multi-blend polymer featuring 512 dimples, more than any other golf ball on the market. The Outer Cover also features an anti-glare satin finish to eliminate distracting reflections on sunny days.
