McIlroy extends contract with Nike

Rory McIlroy has extended his contract with Nike for a further 10 years in a deal that will see the Northern Irishman earn $100million.

McIlroy became a Nike athlete in 2013. Since then, he has won 12 tournaments, including two major championships, two Race to Dubai titles and most recently, the prestigious FedEx Cup. Nike have announced that it will continue this important relationship with a new long-term contract.

“I’ve loved this company since I was a kid,” says McIlroy. “I’m really happy to continue this journey with Nike.”

With Nike no longer making hardware it means that McIlroy is free to negotiate a separate deal for his hardware if he so wishes.
