Lumb hands Hambrook to American Golf

American Golf is to take over retail operations at Hambrook, Bristol at the request of Nicky Lumb, who is taking up a fresh challenge. He has built Hambrook into one of the best regarded golf destinations in the UK and the official transfer of the store took place on in mid-May.

The facilities at Hambrook comprise Pirate Adventure Golf, driving range and Starbucks as well as the new store. It is a facility focussed on providing golfing opportunities for the whole family and presents the fun side of golf that is so important to driving participation in the game.

Lumb commented, “It was a hard decision to leave the business but having put a lot of thought into choosing my successors at Hambrook, now is definitely the right time to partner with American Golf. The commitment they show to quality of service and to growing the game of golf convinced me that they are the right people to take the business forward and I’m confident that my loyal customers will continue to get great service from their staff and PGA professionals.”

Tony Walsh (pictured), director of retail operations commented, “We’ve got a fantastic opportunity at Hambrook to help grow the game of golf. It’s a fun place for the whole family to visit and through the expert advice of our PGA professionals we can help every golfer find the right golf equipment for their game. If they’re an absolute beginner or a single figure handicapper we’ve got the people in store who can help move their game forward.”
