Levy wins in China

FootJoy,  brand ambassador Alexander Levy claimed the first European Tour title of his career with victory at the Volvo China Open. The Frenchman clinched victory with a comfortable four-shot margin at Genzon Golf Club, Shenzhen, following a final round 69 for a closing total of 19-under-par, 269.

23-year-old Levy shot a course record 62 in the second round and replicated that form on the final day with five birdies. Despite a double-bogey six at the 15th Levy held his nerve carding back-to-back birdies at the 71st and 72nd holes.

Levy was joined at the top of the Volvo China Open leaderboard by a host of fellow FJ loyalists, including world #3 Henrik Stenson, Spain’s Rafael Cabrera-Bello and Michael Hoey of Northern Ireland. A blemish-free, seven-birdie final round of 65 from Stenson helps to edge the Swede ever-closer to top spot in the Official Golf World Ranking, while Levy’s victory, accompanied by a winner’s cheque for  almost €390,000, catapults him from #282 to #137.

“Everyone at FootJoy is delighted for Alexander after his stunning win in China in only his second year on tour, which once again helps to validate the superior performance of FJ shoes and gloves,” commented Russell Lawes, FootJoy Marketing Manager. “After FJ ambassador Brett Rumford’s victory at the same event last year, it is fantastic to see another of our loyalists take the title this time around and wish him the best over the coming weeks.”
