Levermore wins Essex Open for fourth time

Channels Golf Club’s head professional, Jason Levermore, won the Essex PGA Championship for the fourth time in his career last week at the Burstead Golf Club.

Rounds of 73 and 69 gave him a three-shot victory from Chase Davis, an assistant at Stapleford Abbotts, whose consolation was the Essex Trainees’ prize. Levermore also shared the prize for the previous day’s first professional in the pro-am with Three Rivers’ James Webber – both fired impressive six-under rounds of 65.

Levermore brought home the winning team of Mike Smith, Ian Gordon and Paul Goldsmith with 91 Stableford points.

It completes a momentous season for Levermore, who joined Channels earlier this year, became a father to a baby boy, was denied a £100,000 car because of an administrative error after holing-in-one during the prestigious BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, and, earlier this month, won the Golfbreaks.com PGA Fourball Championship, with Andrew Pestell, for the second time – the first duo to achieve the feat.

Channels’ director Sara Stubbings-Larner says the whole club takes pride in Levermore’s success.

She said: “It’s great news for Jason and we at Channels are very proud of his results and the way he has settled into his role as head pro. He is a great ambassador for our club.”
