Woodthorpe Open celebrates success of golf in the parks

A fun golf competition for all will be held this month to celebrate the success of the summer’s free Get into golf opportunities in Nottingham parks.

The inaugural Woodthorpe Open will take place at the Woodthorpe Grange Park pitch and putt course on Sunday 22 October. It’s open to all and costs just £7.50 per person, including golf, breakfast and coffee and prizes for all.

Arrival time is 10.30am, with everyone teeing off in fours at the same time, 11.30am, on different holes. To enter and for more information download an entry form by clicking here.

The fun event marks the end of the summer’s Get into golf drop-in sessions which offered all-comers the chance to try the sport with the help of activator Nyle Challinor.

They were held in three Nottingham parks – Woodthorpe Grange, Bulwell Hall and Highfields Park – and aimed to show people that golf is a game for all which is fun, sociable and a great way of keeping fit.

New players who enjoyed their golfing experience will now receive information about further opportunities to play and to connect with local golf clubs.

This is the second year England Golf and Nottingham City Council have teamed up to take golf into an informal setting as part of the ParkLives programme.
