Henrik Stenson does the double

37 year old Henrik Stenson became the first golfer to win the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup and the European Tour’s Race to Dubai in the same season. The Swede finished with an eagle carding a bogey-free 64 and a 25-under-par total setting a new tournament record.

Ian Poulter was second after a fine 67, with Victor Dubuisson two further back.

Stenson who used the Taylor Made SLDR Driver looked hugely impressive following a great run of form hitting shots with pin point precision. On the range that week, TaylorMade Tour reps built Stenson a 10.5 SLDR and as expected, Stenson was able to knock off 400 RPMs of spin and averaged 10 yards longer on the launch monitor. According to Taylor Made achieving more distance with a higher-lofted club is possible because of the SLDR’s low and forward centre of gravity.

Stensons season, saw him finish second and third in the final two majors of the year, and in September he was the first European to win the $10m FedEx Cup Prize.

Taylor Made say that since the switch into the higher-lofted SLDR, Stenson has finished strong and capped a historic season.

The win represented the eighth worldwide win for the new SLDR driver.
