Golfers given chance to win Stenson’s shoe and glove models

The eyes of the golfing world were on Henrik Stenson at Royal Troon yesterday when he fired a tremendous 63 to win The Open Championship – and now golfers have the chance to win the Swede’s FootJoy shoe and glove models through a competition on the brand’s UK & Ireland Facebook page.

Stenson strode to one of the best ever Open victories in his FJ ICON MyJoys shoes and Pure Touch glove, recording the lowest total in the championship’s history (264) and equalling the best ever round. Golfers who visit FootJoy’s UK & Ireland Facebook page within the next week have the opportunity to win both the high-performance shoes and gloves – with three winners being drawn on Monday 25th July.

“I’m delighted but it hasn’t sunk in yet,” said Stenson, who became the first Swede to win a Major championship. “You feel the pressure. As a Swede we’ve had a couple of close calls over the years. There’s been many before that tried and I’m just delighted that I made it for Sweden and all the other guys that tried in past years. It’s a sweet moment.”

Stenson’s FJ ICON MyJoys shoes – designed at MyJoys.co.uk – combine first class craftsmanship with the finest premium materials. The shoe’s full grain waterproof leather was tested during challenging conditions over four days play at Troon, whilst the tri-density TPU outsole and Alloy Torque bar combined to offer Stenson the superior traction and stability he demanded.

Meanwhile, Stenson’s Pure Touch glove is made from exclusive select Cabretta leather that offers a supple feel through proprietary leather preparation techniques.

“We’re absolutely thrilled for Henrik and would like to congratulate him on a thoroughly-deserved Major breakthrough,” said Richard Fryer, Sales and Marketing Director for FootJoy. “FootJoy shoes have been on the feet of European Tour champions on more than 20 occasions this year, but this is undoubtedly the most impressive and again highlights how the very best players in the world count on FJ in the most high-pressure situations,” added Fryer.
