Golf Pride heads into this month’s Open Championship with a vice-like grip over the Tour market.

According to Golf Pride recent statistics show that 82% of the field used the company’s grips at this year’s Masters Tournament and the comparable figure at the subsequent US Open was 79%.

The statistics show that 8 out of the last 10 Masters and US Open winners used Golf Pride grips while 9 out of the last 10 winners of the Open Championship used the company’s grips. 7 out of the last 10 USPGA champions have also relied on Golf Pride grips.

“We are delighted to announce that Golf Pride grips remain the No. 1 choice for the vast majority of Major champions,” said Conor Dillon, Golf Pride’s Sales and Marketing Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“Our grips also remain the No. 1 choice on all the major Tours and that is particularly gratifying because we do not pay players to use our products. Golf Pride invests extremely heavily in R&D and that translates into superior products, both in terms of quality and performance. That is why Tour players elect to use our products and it makes us very proud.

“Going into the week of The Open we usually see more players changing to our Brushed Cotton Technology (BCT) Cord Grips, which typically have 22% better traction than rubber grips in wet or particularly humid conditions,” Dillon added.
