Dubuisson claims maiden European title at Turkish Airlines Open

Victor Dubuisson claimed vistory in Antalya after carding a third round 63 despite struggling to get going on the final day.  He picked up his first shot at the 10th hole only to drop one, on 14 (the first for 33 holes) allowing Jamie Donaldson a share of the lead after a hole in one on the 16th, a 180 yard par three.

Ian Poulter (69) tied for fifth with France’s Raphael Jacquelin at 19 under.

The Race to Dubai hots up now with Sweden’s Henrik Stenson maintaining his lead in the rankings after finishing sixth in Turkey. Englishmen Justin Rose and Ian Poulter, Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell and Wales’s Jamie Donaldson will be chasing hard at the DP World Tour Championship (22-25 November).

“I wanted to cry on the 18th green,” said a relieved Dubuisson. “I still don’t realise that I’ve won such a big event.

“The start was a bit difficult because I did not hit the ball well and struggled on the greens. I didn’t hole any birdie putts on the front nine and all the good players were coming back at me”.

“But I spoke to my caddie at the turn and told him everything is OK and I would make one or two birdies on the back nine.”

Dubuisson moves up to 9th place in the Race to Dubai with earnings boosted by £411,000 from this win to £1,444,070 for the season.
