Carus Green’s Presidents Day raises £840 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society

The members of Burneside-based, Carus Green golf club, enjoyed a successful Presidents Day last Saturday, 12th August, with more than 150 competitors taking to the course in a record turnout in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Participants battled it out in the individual stableford tournament, with the first contestant teeing off at 07:30 to compete for the coveted rose bowl trophy, and individual trophies for the mens, seniors, ladies and junior sections.

The winner of the men’s section was Keith Haggerty, who, with 41 points, was also the overall winner of the rose bowl trophy. Pam Thorley won the ladies section with 38 points, Steve Bingham won the seniors section with 36 points and the junior winner on the day was Carus Green’s rising star, 15-year-old Kendal-based, Harriet Barker.

Club President, Alan Farnsworth, was pleased to announce that together with the raffle on the day, an impressive sum of £840 had been raised for his chosen charity, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, a cause close to his heart. All proceeds will go to continue its vital work and research.

“I should like to thank the members of Carus Green for turning out in force to support Presidents Day and the Multiple Sclerosis Society,” said Alan. “Through their generosity, this extremely worthy cause will be able to fund further study into the condition.  In addition, the event was great fun and a tremendous success.”
