Carus Green golf club celebrates strong growth of club fitting facility

Carus Green golf centre is celebrating the continuous growth of its club fitting facility, which, according to on-site PGA professional, Lee Edwards, is becoming ‘the focal point of their business.’

A major specialist in club fitting for key brands, Callaway, Titleist, Acura, Ping, TaylorMade and Odyssey, Carus Green golf centre is now receiving the majority of its club fitting trade through referrals and repeat custom, and is widely regarded as one of the premier club fitting centres in the North, with this area of the business increasing 20 per cent year on year.

Dealing with key manufacturers, the quality of their two fitting rooms, Flightscope, years of expertise and price, have all been identified as key factors in driving sales, with Lee and fellow PGA professional, Andrew Pickering, now undertaking more than 50 club fits per month.

“Golfers come to us because of our product knowledge and personal service.  Technology moves on and it’s essential that we keep up to date.” said Andrew, who has been a Callaway staff ambassador for eight years and fitted England elite player, Adam Chapman and European Senior Tour winner Gary Wolstenholme MBE, with their set of bespoke clubs.  “Each club fit can take around one and a half hours for a full bag and we advise on aspects from the shaft to the lie angle to the grip. We work to the client’s budget and can also fit second hand clubs.”

Carus Green also offers a fitted set of clubs for a special seasonal price of just £149 (including three sets of head and three different shaft options) from its own brand, ‘Sirris’, which it acquired last year.

Proving that ‘it’s never too late to learn’ or change your equipment, 86 year old Marjorie Curtin recently purchased her own set of bespoke clubs from Carus Green golf centre.  Marjorie, who plays three times a week has been a golfer for more than 30 years and was keen for a bespoke service as opposed to buying from an internet retailer.

“Fewer golfers are purchasing their clubs online.  They want a tailored service and that’s what we provide.” Andrew adds.  “The success of the club fitting facility forms a huge part of where we’re going as a golf centre and we will be employing another fitting specialist shortly to cope with demand.”
