American Golf surveys golfers on Chrissie pressies

American Golf has conducted a survey of golfers on satisfaction with Christmas gifts. Results show that the majority of golfers questioned admitted that loved ones very rarely get it right and that unwanted presents are doomed to a life under the stairs.

Cheap and novelty golf balls top the list of worst presents ever, but surprisingly right up there are clubs and gloves for the wrong hand. Toilet putting games, automatic putt returners and ball monogrammers also rank highly as unwelcome gifts, as do ‘Christmas socks’.

Even more unfortunate is the survey result showing the majority of these Christmas presents, particularly the novelty headcovers, balls and socks, never even make it out of the packet, let alone onto the golf course! Golfers’ ‘gift sets’ and books of golfing anecdotes are also likely to remain in the cupboard until the next big clear out.

Topping the most wanted gift list for 2014 are top brand golf balls, followed by clothing gift sets, a new driver or a GPS rangefinder.
