59club awards to be hosted at The Belfry

Four-time Ryder Cup venue The Belfry is set to play host to this year’s 59club Service Excellence Awards Ceremony, an event widely regarded as the ‘Oscars of the Golf Industry’, incorporating leading golf clubs and personnel from across the world.

Taking place on Monday 27th February, the awards ceremony will be compered by BBC Breakfast News and Football Focus presenter Dan Walker, whilst there will also be seminars and speakers geared towards the golf services sector.

As well as hosting the Service Excellence Ceremony, The Belfry also makes up two of the nominees for the evening awards, with the resort’s Jack Bowen up for ‘Leading Individual Golf Sales Performance’ and Director of Courses and Estates, Angus MacLeod, in the running for the ‘Greenkeeper of the Year – Over £75 green fee’ accolade.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting the 7th edition of the 59club Service Excellence Awards and look forward to welcoming some of the best people in the golf industry,” said James Stewart, resort director of The Belfry. “The Belfry enjoyed 120 per cent growth in the corporate golf sector last year and we continue to welcome high-profile events that demand the absolute premium in terms of quality and service.”

Meanwhile, Dan Walker, a single-figure handicapper who has already tested his skills on The Belfry’s famous Brabazon course, said: “I always look forward to visiting The Belfry. It’s always been a great venue and in recent years they have added real touches of class to the hotel. It’s a great place to host an event and I always look forward to the 59club awards.”

Simon Wordsworth, chief executive at 59club and a Fellow of the PGA, explained: “The event offers a great opportunity for those within the industry to get together and recognise the best individuals and teams for their outstanding performance over the past 12 months.”
